Is something waiting to be discovered in the darkness?

I’ve always thought that there are unseen entities co-existing alongside us in our lives, that when you walk into a room there are other things in that room with us. But I’ve always thought these entities are doing their own thing in another realm, that they cannot see or interact with us, that the only times they cross over into our present day existence is when we try to contact the dead, or as the old pagan (I think?) tradition says, in particular “thin places” where we are much closer to the dead.

Kshitij Sharma left a great comment to my last post – “What makes me curious is… are there actually unseen forces hiding in the shadows waiting for us to discover them or is it our mind playing tricks on our soul? Either ways, we are not alone. Never.”

Which got me thinking. What if Kshitij is right – that these unseen entities hiding in the darkness are actually desperate to be discovered. What if they are constantly sending our signals, reaching out to us, trying to be noticed – and for almost all of the time, they are ignored. And what if it’s not so much want to be discovered, that they need to be discovered as they can’t move on to another dimension until they have been acknowledged. So in fact, their desperate pleas tragically fall upon our deaf ears and our blind eyes.

But how would we know? What can we do?

Because what if the reverse is true – that actually the entities are quite happy existing in this other realm and that they don’t want to be contacted, that they want to be left alone – and in fact by us contacting the dead makes them angry or scared even.

What does anyone else think?

  1. Thanks Toni. I have gotten indulged in a new routine these days. To check out updates on your Blog as they provide some really delicious food for thought 🙂

And wow I’m so glad I could offer some perspective to for your new post. Thanks for the mention.

I’ve always believed that there are forces unseen, hidden in the dark waiting to be discovered. Life (or existence if you may call it) doesn’t end where we think it does.

There is a small excercise which I used to share with some of my friends who do not believe in life after death, existence of ghosts and all that.

Picture This —- You are Dead. Your mind, body, soul all cease to exist. There are no thoughts, no sensation, no feeling. Just try to close your eyes and picture such a state. Can you? No We can’t and why?

There is no such state of thoughtlessness because the very thought of you being dead is a thought. The thought of having no feelings, no sensations is a thought as well. How would you ever be able to know that you are dead? How would you be able to make that distinction? Simply to realize that you do not exist, you would have to exist. As a thought without a body, as a sensation without a soul.

Death is a journey. Life is a mere pit stop.

  2. In reply to your post, honestly I believe that if whatever lies beyond our plain of understanding wanted to contact us, it would do so. Sometimes messing about with things you dont understand can lead to far worse things…

On another note, I stumbled upon your blog while doing some research for my current contextual studies project. I’m a 2nd year Design for Film and TV student, studying at Nottingham Trent University. As part of my course this year I’m focusing on female directors and was wondering if you’d be happy to answer some questions? Please contact me at timjameshewitt@hotmail.co.uk
    Thanks a lot,
    TJH
